i start school on monday for the first time in five years. college drop out core, but i am taking college level classes at work and will eventually get an associates out of it! i wish i always finished my schooling, but covid made paying tuition real expensive so i unfortunately just ended up dropping out after a semester. i am excited, but afraid! i have always had test anxiety, and i hate math, so especially when those two mix together, it just makes me feel icky. physics also seems daunting, since i never took a physics class before. even in high school, i avoided physics and opted for geology instead. ive done alright with science related courses in the past, but physics equations seem really complex. hopefully i can understand them.

after getting my associates, i hope to eventually get my bachelor's degree. i don't know what i would major in yet, but i think having one would be handy for my resume. i don't exactly want to work in the blue collar field for the rest of my life, but having a degree would help me have more opportunities at my work. i want my own little work computer and desk to decorate in a building that isn't exposed to the bizarre weather of the pnw.

Back at the start of the year, I had a bunch of photos taken of myself, just because I needed something to do besides being dirty all day working 10hr shifts practically nonstop. In a new “gimmick” promotion on STiBaRC, I decided to use some of these photos as a pre-add bonus for the single I got coming up on Oct 3. Honestly found myself cringing selecting and resizing these images, but I think later down the road when I’m old and shit, I’ll get a good laugh out of it idk

In other news, school has been an interesting venture. I’ve been bitching to Josh and Sophie all week so far (it’s only Tuesday) about how I forgot to buy a drafting kit for my tech drawing class. Literally the only god damn person in the class to not have one; so embarrassing.

I ordered a kit through the local college online for in person pickup but they’re out of stock 😭 and they personally get the kit together so honestly kinda cooked. Doesn’t help classes are from 7-4, and the book store closes at 4 like ty for that
Moral of the story is, I should use reminders more often bc it just slipped out of my mind to get this kit. I even took Friday off to go and purchase school supplies, but failed to remember about the damn drafting kit

Cramming a whole “semester” of college into four weeks (they call it quarters for whatever reason instead) def makes it fast paced. This so-called quarter luckily has some easy courses (besides drawing). Next quarter, I have a math class (it’s math 94), but I barely passed 95 in college 🫢

hi all, a new alluthus single is out! "DANCE DAMN IT / ANOTHER DAY" is now on various digital platforms for the usual 2-3 listeners to enjoy. one thing i initially failed to notice was how loud some of the instruments get on some of the tracks, so i will be tweaking some of the normalization and it will be sent out to stores real soon! while the alluthus catalog is usually supposed to make one's ears bleed due to how repetitive some of the notes are—especially with this release being entirely of sample packs (besides some drum recordings by yours truly)—i did not want to actually make you deaf.

this 4 track release is a maxi single (though categorized as an EP on digital stores due to its length), which was a popular format of physical singles before the age of streaming and digital downloads of music. The two 'A-side' songs, "DANCE DAMN IT" and "ANOTHER DAY", are real interesting pieces. This single also has two 'B-side' tracks, "THE ANOMALY" and "I THOUGHT OF YOU ONCE MORE, BUT WISH I COULD JUST FORGET ABOUT YOU", a total of four tracks.

when i had my first album released in 2020, i avoided using electronic elements for the most part in favor of a more alt rock vibe. by the end of that year, i guess i strayed away from that initial thought with the release of the Undertow EP—which relied more on synths and was more geared in the 'pop' area. with my second album in 2022, it was divided—as the first half had similar sounds to my first album while the second half was more dance-pop in a way. the same could be said for the 2023 HANABI EP, which had one alt rock song while the rest of the songs were the entire opposite genre.

on this maxi single release, i decided to fully embrace the dance-pop sounds i initially explored with my second album. a majority of this release was made with the 'Dancefloor Rush' kit on GarageBand. it's a pretty nice kit, and i am sure anyone could easily recreate the tracks on this release if they wanted to since i didn't change much from the original pack files at all.

i also wanted more of an upbeat production. while the last B-side track on this single might be the only exclusion, a huge majority of the alluthus catalog has had this 'dark' and rather 'gloomy' vibe, from track titles to just how it sonically sounds.

"DANCE DAMN IT" especially has this buoyant sound that is cheerful and positive. "ANOTHER DAY" also shares the same vibe as "DANCE DAMN IT" i'd say—fast-paced synths and kicks that feels good.

"THE ANOMALY" kinda reminds me of breakcore in a way—especially with the blend of its drumkit that reminiscences on chiptune music almost. it's 'chorus' is one of the first songs ill fix on this release, since a guitar sample i used is quite a bit too loud...

out of all the tracks i made for this single, i enjoyed making "THE ANOMALY" out of all the other three. i originally planned on releasing only one track as a single rather than a double single, and "THE ANOMALY" was my initial track to be released as a standalone single.

i ended up instead deciding on making this release a double A-side single because i thing i have released too many EPs these last few years lol. last december, i released a christmas ep, the HANABI EP in 2023, the Undertow EP in 2020-21 and ofc my first EP Golden Days in 2020.

this has turned into a rant, omg lol. i do have plans for a third alluthus album—since 2023 actually! sonically, i do think it will fall towards the sound of this maxi single, a fun and dance-able project that is upbeat and makes one feel good.
the only downside is that i have become more and more reliant on these sample packs (i only have two performance credits on this release)...
but no matter, we shall see what the future holds! until then, i hope after reading this lengthy entry, that you enjoy "DANCE DAMN IT / ANOTHER DAY"!

had to factory reset my ipad bc 15gb of "other" (probably cache and whatnot) was taking up space and i could not find any way to clear up any storage. it kept soft rebooting while i was doing homework on it and then kept failing to install the new ios update since its large af. so that was wonderful, thank you apple for not having a clear cache button.
if i get another ipad, i guss 64GB is no longer enough lol
